Frequently Asked Questions
About the Books
-
Why-choose (also called reverse harem) is a romance subgenre where the heroine doesn’t have to choose between her love interests. She gets them all. These stories center around multiple romantic and/or intimate relationships simultaneously, with full knowledge and consent among the people involved. If you’re new to the genre, think of it less as a trope and more as a philosophy: love doesn’t have to be a competition.
-
The books explore polyamorous relationship structures, yes. The “why-choose” label is the genre convention readers use to find these books; polyamorous is the real-world term for what the characters are actually building. Both appear in how Verity describes her work.

Content & Trigger Warnings
-
Because readers deserve to make informed choices about what they consume. Content warnings are not spoilers. They’re courtesy. Verity writes emotionally intense fiction, and she wants every reader to enter prepared and willing, not blindsided.
-
Present on the page: Why-choose/reverse harem romance (one woman, multiple love interests), explicit romantic and sexual content between consenting adults, death and dying, grief and loss, discussions of fate and the absence of choice, morally complex immortal characters, loss of bodily autonomy, coercive magic, confinement, dissociation, supernatural compulsion to harm, found family dynamics, and slow-burn emotional intensity that escalates significantly.
Handled with care but present: References to past trauma, power imbalance in early romantic dynamics, and depictions of gods with human emotional wounds.
Not present: Sexual assault or dubious consent presented approvingly, graphic torture, child harm, or sexual content involving anyone under 18.
-
Explicit. This is adult romance fiction with on-page sexual content. If you prefer closed-door romance, this series is not the right fit. Verity respects that completely.
-
These books are written for adults (18+). The romantic and sexual content, thematic darkness, and emotional complexity are all intended for a mature readership
